We're all Winners!

That's right, well done everyone, give yourselves a pat on the back AND a fist bump! London is officially No1! Woo-hoo! No we've not had too much coffee... London has scooped the global award for 'Best City 2016' in The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sunday Times Travel Magazine Awards last week at the ceremony at the Wynn Hotel in sunny, sunny Las Vegas! Oh and did we forget to mention this is the 4TH TIME in a row that the UK's capital city has won the award. This means (once again) we are ranked ahead of New York, Venice, Paris, Sydney, Las Vegas and Dubai (pretty much everyone...!). New York might be the city that never sleeps, Venice has its beautiful canals, Paris is the city of love, Sydney has the beach, Las Vegas is, well Las Vegas and Dubai is a jewel in the desert... However London has something different going on every day from art, culture, sports, events, concerts, pop-up food or fashion stalls and shops. We love being part of this amazing (and often a little crazy) town. A town where we get to be part of a fantastic cultural coming together and smelting pot. You can be in town for several days and only scratch the surface of what to see, what's on and we guess that's why so many of you keep coming back. methode_times_prod_web_bin_fbdb49ae-7b6d-11e6-a967-d76ae2cbdd22 And (even if we do say so!) one of the best ways to see London is on a guided tour, it doesn't have to be via RIB boat but that does help! You'll get to see dozens and dozens of sites and be looked after by an enthusiastic and passionate guide. Jane Knight, Times Travel Editor, said; "Despite stiff competition from the likes of Paris, Barcelona, Venice and New York, London came out on top. It just goes to show how much the capital has to offer and how it continues to regenerate itself and create a buzz - from the new Tate Modern to the bustling stalls selling artisan products at nearby Borough Market and the hip bars, restaurants and vintage cloth shops of Shoreditch. Cool new hotels mean there are more interesting places to stay, and room rates are kept competitive. With exciting new productions in the West End and art exhibitions, there's always another reason to visit." Below are the full list of winners and their awards; Best airline: British Airways From a generous baggage allowance to roomy seats and good meals, BA knows what you want. Best city: London A record-breaking 31.5 million visitors agree that London never gets old. Best country: Italy Winning for the third year in a row, Italy doles out la dolce vita in spades. Best luxury tour operator: Audley Travel A worthy winner, with its great service and huge range of itineraries. Best escorted tour operator: Great Rail Journeys In an age where cheap flights put every destination on your doorstep, you voted for slow travel and the no-fuss service of Great Rail Journeys.
